Sources confirm a battalion chief with the Richmond Fire Department is charged with misdemeanor assault.
Sources say Tina Watkins allegedly assaulted a male firefighter, who then made the complaint.
Watkins did not want to comment on the charge, but did tell reporter Chelsea Rarrick she was a highly respected public official in Richmond.
CBS 6 contacted the Richmond Fire Department regarding the charges, but a spokesman said that because he could not comment on the incident because it is a personnel matter.
However, he did say that the department has turned everything over to Central HR and is cooperating with any kind of investigation they are doing.
